Description
The Portuguese varieties, Tinta amarella, Tinta cao, Touriga Nacional and Souzao help with making this in the style of a classic Portuguese Vintage Port. Vintage Quattro Peel Estate Wines has an awesome taste.
Tasting Note
Light brick-red with tawny edges. This has a beaut nose with nice fresh spirit and red fruit flavours. And there’s some plum pud spiciness too. Will Nairn has always pursued a drier port than the Australian norm, much more Portuguese in style. This is deliciously spirity at the front, but there’s mid-palate fruit sweetness and then a lovely blast of tannin and spirit to give it a drying finish.
This is not a nutty, rancioed tawny port, but a lively, fresh, gulp-me style. Pull out the blue cheese and muscatels.
