This Peel Estate Sparkling Chenin has been made in the traditional method. Aged on lees in the bottle for a minimum of 12 months gives this wine a wonderful flavour and complexity that is not the sweet bubbles many might expect from Chenin. A sophisticated sparkling wine best suited as an aperitif.
Lots of mousse, small persistent bubbles. There’s a very expressive chenin blanc nose with sweet tropical fruit notes and a hint of lime. The wine is big in the mouth, rich from the start and quite full-bodied. There’s a lovely mouthfeel from the foamy mousse. This is a powerful and characterful sparkling wine with immediate attraction for casual drinking but with big, racy flavours that might make it better suited with food. Its great length shows quality fruit.
