Peel Estate Wines

Peel Estate Wines has been an integral part of the Peel Region for over 40 years. There are many other things to tell about peel estate wines In 1973 the first Shiraz vines were planted, followed by Chenin Blanc and Zinfandel in 1976, and Cabernet Sauvignon in 1979. Other varieties such as Chardonnay, Verdelho, Cabernet Franc and the traditional Portuguese Port Varieties were planted in 1980.

The Peel region with its close proximity to the Indian Ocean is the ideal location to grow wine grapes as it combines unique coastal limestone soils and a Mediterranean climate, ensuring wines with fruit intensity along with specific regional characteristics.

All wine at Peel Estate is made on site in the original architect designed colonial style brick and timber winery, set in a magnificent environment dominated by Tuart trees.

Visitors can observe the daily activities of the winery from the mezzanine tasting area or enjoy the tranquility of the spacious lawn area that includes a large BBQ area – perfect for picnics with the family.

The Cellar Door

Our Cellar door opened to the public in 1981 and boasts a charming, rustic mezzanine level that overlooks the winery.

During certain days of the year, visitors can watch grapes being crushed and pressed along with red wines fermenting. Plus because it is all open plan the amazing smells associated with vintage will permeate the area.

Wine tasting is free* and most of the range can be tasted on a daily basis. However, wines such as the Sparkling, Zinfandel and select Fortifieds are only available for tastings on weekends.

* Large bus groups do incur a fee which is refundable upon purchase
